About Me

Hello.
My name is Belén Pinedo. I attended the El Monte City School District from kinder to high school and graduated from El Monte High. I obtained my BA in Liberal Studies (2011) and my Multiple Subject Credential with a Bilingual Authorization (2013) from Cal Poly Pomona. I currently started my first quarter of the masters program at Cal Poly Pomona.

I have a beautiful daughter named Kailey, who is about to turn 7 this month. I am a Substitute Teacher for Azusa and a Substitute Aide for Pomona. Aside from being a Mom, student, and teacher, I am also a Girl Scout Co-Leader (we are currently on our Nuts & Magazine sale, contact me if you're interested! Cookies are sold around January, sorry!).
I would consider myself an advanced novice in the technology continuum. Before studying Liberal Studies, I was a Graphic Arts major. This allowed me to explore Photoshop, Illustrator, and a bit of InDesign. Although I had these classes, I almost felt as if I taught myself how to maneuver through the programs. I was never truly satisfied with this major and found my place in a classroom as an Elementary Teacher. I currently use Photoshop and Illustrator to do invitations or minor designs, but a lot of what I once learned is stored somewhere in my memory. Before college, I was fascinated by all the technological advances being made and kept up as much as possible; I don't do so any more, but I'm hoping to get back to it.

I am very excited to begin my Masters of Educational Multimedia program. I know the skills I learn here will make me more marketable in the workplace and open new doors to various other careers. As the educational system catches up with all the various technologies out there (i.e., iPad, Smart Boards, smartphones, etc.) I will be ready to teach my students new concepts using an array of multimedia. I can't wait to develop my technological skills and integrate them into the 21st century classroom.

  2. Adorable pic you you and your daughter! I didn't know you were a Graphic Arts major prior to Liberal Studies. You will be an asset to our team in the other class. You can count on me asking you a bunch of questions, as if I already don't! I too believe that this degree will set us apart from the rest because technology is being integrated more into classrooms.
